The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at ISL
At the International School of Laos (ISL), we believe that true education extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. For many years, ISL has proudly facilitated the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s (DofE) International Award, a globally recognized youth achievement program that perfectly aligns with our core values of holistic student development.
Program Overview
The DofE Award challenges young people to step outside their comfort zones, discover their hidden potential, and build lifelong resilience. To earn their Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards, ISL students set and achieve personal goals across four transformative areas:
Voluntary Service: Giving back and making a positive impact in our local community.
Physical Recreation: Improving health, fitness, and overall well-being.
Skills: Cultivating personal interests and practical abilities outside the standard curriculum.
Adventurous Journey: Planning, training for, and completing a demanding team outdoor expedition.
Student Development
Through this journey, our students develop essential life skills such as leadership, collaborative problem-solving, and a deep sense of global citizenship.
We are incredibly proud of our students’ dedication, recently highlighted by a cohort of 10 outstanding ISL students earning their official Bronze Medals!
