We take pride in the rich diversity of our community, which includes students, teachers, and families from all corners of the globe. This year’s 8th Annual Culture Day was a true reflection of that diversity, as we celebrated 23 countries with vibrant displays, performances, and interactive exhibits. It was a wonderful reminder of the global connections that unite us.
The day was a journey around the world, with each country offering a unique window into its culture, showcasing traditional clothing, music, food, games, and more. For many of our students, teachers, and families, this was an opportunity to share their heritage with the wider community, creating a celebration that was both educational and personal.
We are deeply grateful to our distinguished guests: Mr Bounthan Sengmany, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Sports, Vientiane Capital; Mr Soulideth Munkhongsin, Head of the Saysettha Education Office; Mr Anoudeth Phompida, Head of the Association of Private Schools; Mr Aleksandr Shuvalov, Headmaster of the Secondary School at the Посольство России в Лаосе Russian Embassy in Laos; Ms Irina Shuvalov, Teacher at the Russian Embassy School in Laos; Mr Avinash Kumar, Assistant Attaché at the India in Lao PDR (Embassy of India, Vientiane), along with Mrs Nidhi Kumari; and Mr Shovgi Kamal Oglu, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
A special thank you goes to the India in Lao PDR (Embassy of India, Vientiane), the Korean Embassy in Laos 주라오스대한민국대사관, and the Embassy of Japan in Laos ສະຖານທູດຍີ່ປຸ່ນປະຈໍາ ສປປລາວ for providing traditional costumes, decorations, and cultural displays, which added an authentic touch to the experience. We are also deeply grateful to Mr Shovgi Kamal Oglu, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, who travelled from Vietnam to show his support, particularly for the Year 8-C students and their instructor, Ms Gulnar Shirinova. In addition to the supplies he provided, including decorations, costumes, and other items linked to Azerbaijan.
Their presence was a testament to the importance of education and community in fostering global understanding.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard work and enthusiasm of our students, teachers and staff. Their dedication to bringing the event to life made it a truly special day, showcasing the power of collaboration and the importance of cultural understanding within our learning community.
At ISL, we believe in the power of diversity to shape not just our school, but our world. Culture Day serves as a reminder that by embracing and celebrating our differences, we become stronger, more empathetic global citizens. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this day a success, and to all those who joined us in celebrating the cultures that make our community so unique.
